Non-Standard Home

Non-standard home insurance is sometimes referred to specialist home insurance and applies to those homes that aren’t eligible for standard home insurance. This is usually because unusual or old-fashioned building methods have been used.

‘Non-standard’ refers to many different situations. For example, a building that isn’t made of brick or stone and doesn’t have a slate or tile roof is referred to as ‘non-standard’. Many standard insurers won’t insure such properties, as replacing or repairing non-standard materials can be expensive and time-consuming, which is why a more specialist approach is necessary.

We have been providing our high net worth clients with non-standard home insurance for many years and have the experience and expertise to arrange a bespoke policy that is tailored to your specific requirements.

We’ve arranged cover for many non-standard properties, including older homes, listed buildings, period properties, eco-friendly, barn conversions, converted mills, timber framed houses, steel-framed houses, cob, prefab, HUF houses, thatch and flat roof properties. Building materials may include concrete, corrugated iron, plastic, glass, fibreglass, flint, wattle and daub, and new, eco-friendly materials, including green roofs.

With access to a panel of leading insurers and specialist underwriters, we can provide exactly the level of cover you require, ensuring your non-standard home is protected against all insurable risks, giving you complete peace of mind.

If you are struggling to insure your home contact us and we would be delighted to assist.
